Now that Memorial Day has passed, the unofficial beginning of summer has begun — that glorious time of year when school is out, flip-flops are your shoe of choice and all you can think about is sitting on your backyard patio with a cool homemade cocktail in your hand. To quench our thirst and get our creative juices flowing this year, we turned our sights to Instagram, and we weren’t disappointed. The social platform makes it easy to browse through drinks and recipes. It also gives us a chance to ogle over all of the beautifully photographed concoctions made by professional bartenders, amateur home mixologists and cocktail bloggers. (Ever heard of the word “cocktail porn”?)
From a sweet-and-pretty twist on the traditional margarita (a California favorite) to a frozen take on a California rosé, we collected a few of our favorites.
It’s not summer until you see a Hibiscus flower in your drink. This brightly colored margarita, offered up by Rob M., who describes himself as just “another home chef/ mixologist on the ‘gram,” gives the tropical bloom on its rightful stage.
