Along with A-list celebrities and avid film lovers, the Coldwell Banker Mill Valley office also got in on the cinematic fun and experienced the festival’s incredible films and vibrant community atmosphere in a special way.
The office sponsored the prestigious Mill Valley Film Festival, specifically contributing support to the film, A Monster Calls. A tale of loss of healing, the film presents a powerful story that melds extraordinary visuals with heart-wrenching performances. It centers around the story of thirteen-year-old Connor who is struggling to cope with the deepening illness of his mother (played by Felicity Jones). He is called on by a monster (voiced by Liam Neeson) that emerges from a huge elm tree that is known for its healing properties. The film’s inspiring narrative and creative nature was the reason Coldwell Banker Mill Valley decided to get behind this compelling picture.
“A Monster Calls is a beautiful, powerful and poignant film with wonderful performances, strong emotions, stunning visual effects and a story that resonates and works on many levels. The film, which was based on a popular adult novel, was thoroughly enjoyed by our clients!” said Andy Gellepis, Managing Broker of the Coldwell Banker Mill Valley office.
To celebrate the local festival and A Monster Calls, Sales Associates and staff hosted a client party at the Coldwell Banker Mill Valley office which included the director of the film, J.A. Bayona, a talented visual filmmaker whose other films include The Orphanage, The Impossible and the upcoming Jurassic World 2.
Fifteen agents and over 100 clients were all in attendance and had a great time discussing anything and everything relating to film.
After the party, attendees were escorted to the film’s premiere and were even given reserved seating at the presentation’s venue, Sequoia Theatre in Mill Valley. The intimate theatre space features regal décor and state of the art sound and lighting, which added to the film viewing experience.
To top it off, the office won the festival’s MVFF39 Window Display Contest thanks to their imaginative window decorations based on the film, which included creative photography that was displayed during the festival.
Already credited as one of the best films of the year and a likely Oscar contender, A Monster Calls hits U.S. theatres for a limited run on December 23 and will go wide to 1,500 theatres on January 6, 2017.
