Goin’ back to Cali, Cali….

The Golden State can add another NFL team to its roster, and Los Angeles finally has its professional football team back! The L.A. Rams have already taken up temporary residence at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, winning two straight preseason games against the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs — keeping the California Dream alive… at least for now.

Their rookie quarterback, No. 1 draft pick Jared Goff, is no stranger to the state either as a California Golden Bear from Cal Berkeley. Even though Goff isn’t starting in the season opener next Monday against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium, we’re pretty excited to see the Nor Cal vs. So Cal football rivalry back in full force! (Any bets on who will win?)

While the Rams may be persona non grata in Santa Clara, L.A. has welcomed back Goff and his teammates with open arms. (The Cowboys game set the record for the largest crowd to ever watch a preseason football game in United States history with nearly 90,000 fans in attendance.) A massive new stadium complex — the team’s final home — is also already underway at the former site of the Hollywood Park racetrack in L.A.’s Inglewood neighborhood. The southwestern corridor of Los Angeles is exploding with excitement, with plans for new mixed-use developments and new homes cropping up near the stadium, as well as talk of a Metro line extension. All of this activity and excitement has us wondering though: where Goff end up setting down roots?

Below, we offer up four Los Angeles-area homes listed by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage where he can touchdown.

1. Manhattan Beach

Since Goff is originally from Marin, he may feel right at home near the water. About nine miles from Inglewood and five miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Manhattan Beach is a classic Southern California coastal town that’s especially convenient. (It’s also close to training facilities in El Segundo and Playa Vista.) He’ll also be living among his peers, since many pro athletes — including hockey, basketball and football players — already call it home. This quintessential traditional line and style beach house, listed by Lauren Forbes of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Manhattan Beach is only three blocks from the beach, and has plenty of space for casual entertaining. It also offers him plenty of beach living basics: ocean views, outdoor beach shower and a killer patio (a must).

2. Marina del Rey

Marina del Rey is another nearby seaside community that Goff may gravitate to, given his Marin upbringing. Located only four miles from LAX, walking distance to Venice Beach and less than 10 minutes to Santa Monica, Marina del Rey has a major claim to fame: it is home to the world’s largest man-made small craft harbor, with capacity for 5,300 boats and is home port to approximately 6,500 boats.  This breezy New England-inspired traditional house on “Millionaire’s Row,” listed by Galina Blackman of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Beverly Hills, has a more casual, laid-back feel with an amazing outdoor space for entertaining friends…and the occasional football player. The best part? It’s all just steps from the sand.

3. Downtown Los Angeles

Since Goff is single and the Rams will be playing at the Coliseum for a while, he could seek out a more fast-paced urban lifestyle in downtown Los Angeles. Downtown L.A. has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, with nationally ranked restaurants, craft bars, art and a booming nightlife all happening in the city. This swanky three-bedroom architectural condo, listed by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, is perfect for a bachelor, thanks to mind-blowing 270-degree views, soaring ceilings and a range of modern finishes.

4. Hollywood

Another fun urban playground for a bachelor is Hollywood. The restaurants, shopping and nightlife of Sunset Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard are just a hop, skip and a jump away from this impeccably designed Hollywood Knolls retreat listed by Therese Hyde of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Studio City. (It was even built for a movie industry mogul… how “Hollywood” is that?) Goff could entertain his friends and teammates in the spacious living room with wine alcove, beautiful fireplace, custom bar and nine-foot ceiling. The lush and private backyard is also an entertainer’s paradise with BBQ, sparkling pool, spa, patio and large lawn area.
