America is a melting pot of cultures and influences. American architecture is as diverse and eclectic as the people who live here, influenced by a variety of factors and regional traditions. You could argue that the Spanish or Mediterranean architecture typically found in California, the Western parts of our country and of course, Florida is just as American as the Georgian architecture found in cities like New York and Boston for which we have the British to thank. Greek revival and Victorian is just as red, white and blue as the Arts and Crafts movement. That is why, on this fine Independence Day, we decided to take a look at six properties that pay homage to the great American architectural traditions of the past. Whether it’s a stately Colonial in San Jose or an East Coast traditional in Pacific Palisades, these homes feel as American as apple pie… Happy Fourth of July everyone! Enjoy!
