Now, you may be asking, what exactly is Galentine’s Day? For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, Galentine’s Day is a legit NATIONAL holiday graciously gifted to us ladies by Parks & Recreation’s Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). To give you a better idea of what it’s all about, we’ll share these words from the founding mother, “Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home and just kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus, frittatas!”
Galentine’s Day is a special time of year when you should gather your ladies for brunch and bubbles—guilt free might we add—to toast love and friendship. Single or not, it’s important to remember how special your gal pals are in your life. Besides, who better to revel in a day of mimosas, Rom-Coms, and ridiculous Instagram posts than your besties. Duh? Traditionally, it takes place on February 13th, but we won’t tell if you have to pencil in an alternate date later in the month.
If you’re new to Galentine’s Day, don’t fret. We’ve got you covered with some fabulous tips to help you host this shindig. The only caveat, no boys allowed!
Since love is the theme of the day, don’t be ashamed to go over the top with some chic Valentine’s Day décor. We’re thinking glam, so lots of pinks, florals, Xs & Os, and glitter—something like this perfect setting from event-planning genius Aaron Hartselle.

Nothing says ladies who brunch quite like a decadent mimosa bar. In addition to the traditional OJ and bubbles, try a variety of mixers and fresh fruit. We’re in love with this tablescape by Green Wedding Shoes.
You can go one of two ways today. 1. Channel your slumber party days and tell everyone to arrive in your favorite PJs. 2. Get all dolled up like you’re headed to an uber fancy dinner party. Regardless of the direction you choose to go, be sure to follow Miss Woods’ fashion advice and avoid orange at all costs. Today is all about pink. On second thought, Galentine’s Day should just always fall on a Wednesday so there’s no confusion on what to wear.
Let the love fest begin!
