Hollywood is in full hustle mode as the town of glitter and gold prepares for the 86th Annual Academy Awards show on March 2. There’s so much buzz in the air about this year’s nominees: Will America’s wonderfully awkward sweetheart (Jennifer Lawrence, of course) walk away with her second Oscar for “American Hustle”? Will Leonardo DiCaprio finally get his moment to shine as Best Actor in “The Wolf of Wall Street”? Whether we’ve seen the nominated movies or not, it’s always such fun to watch the Red Carpet, see the stars at their most glamorous, listen to the speeches and then recap it all during the commercials. But where will you be watching the big event? Here’s an idea: why not host the consummate Oscar’s party!

It’s so easy to throw something quick and fun together. All you need is a big screen TV, a handful of friends,  a few other party essentials—and you’re set! Think we’re kidding? Take a look at these easy, fun suggestions and watch your Academy Award party come together in an L.A. minute.

Pick a Theme

If you have a favorite nominated film, then decorate with that in mind. You can design your soirée as an ode to the 70s with “American Hustle” décor (think mirror balls and feather boas), try a space-party atmosphere for “Gravity” fans with glow-in-the-dark stars and twirling planets or get nautical with “Captain Phillips” sailing paraphernalia . If you want to go neutral, an elegant black, silver and white theme never goes wrong: white linen table clothes, black cocktail napkins, silver and black balloons and black tie attire.

Send Evites

 Youre invited

The awards show will be here before you know it, so paper invites are probably not an option. Lucky for everyone, the Internet was invented and with it, some magic called evites. The evite website has some festive Oscar night designs all ready to send, so what are you waiting for?

Serve Cocktails

What’s an Oscars party without a winning cocktail or two? Try these buzz-worthy drinks at your party.

The Classic Harvey Wallbanger (a classic American Hustle 70s drink)
1.25 oz Vodka/3 oz Orange Juice/.5 oz Galliano L’Autentico
Serve in a tall glass filled with ice and garnish with an orange slice.

The Penicillin Cocktail (from the official Oscars website)
1.5 oz Johnnie Walker Black Label/.75 oz Lemon Juice/.75 oz Ginger Syrup/Float of Peaty Single Malt Scotch
Garnish with skewered ginger candy or lemon.

The Sassy Champagne Cocktail (a Hollywood classic)
Champagne or Sparkling Wine/2–3 dashes of Bitters/Sugar Cube
Serve in champagne flute.

Feed Your Guests

The awards show can turn into a long night so be sure to have plenty of hors d’oeuvres on hand. It is a celebration of movies, so popcorn is a must. Have some fun with it though and serve a variety like regular salted popcorn, striped chocolate popcorn and KateSpade.com’s Chili-Lime popcorn. For more filling noshes, serve a platter of elegant Mushroom and Fontina Crostini or Wolfgang Puck’s Prime Mini Cheeseburgers. For non-meat-eating guests, be sure to have some plant-based offerings like hummus with vegetables or guacamole and tortilla chips. To round off the night with sweet rewards, Mini Black-Bottom Cheesecakes would most certainly get rave reviews.
