Ok, it’s true—we are fortunate to call California home. However, for many families, the California dream is unreachable because they are either homeless or hungry. The holiday season adds an even greater strain on those who do not have the comforts most of us take for granted: food and shelter. But we can make the holidays a little brighter by giving back…and that’s exactly what many California branch offices of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage are doing this year. Take a look at how Southern California regions and offices are giving back:
Greater Los Angeles
Each December, the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Community Foundation of Greater Los Angeles organizes a giving campaign – donating money and items to organizations such as Passageways, St Joseph’s Center for the Homeless, My Friend’s Place, Harbor Interfaith, Toys for Tots and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This year, sales associates in Oxnard are collecting toys for the 5th Annual Castro Family Toy Drive. The drive will see that more than 300 Ventura County children receive toys and gifts this holiday season. Recipients are the patients of the Ventura County Medical Center Children’s Cancer and Blood Disease Center, and their immediate siblings. In Los Feliz, sales associates are collecting coats, sweaters and jackets for My Friend’s Place during a One Warm Coat drive.
This year (like in years past), sales associates from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Orange County will be collecting and combining monetary donations from sales associates, staff and affiliates to distribute to a number of homeless charities. For example, the Laguna Niguel and San Clemente offices are fulfilling the wish lists of 39 children from Orange County Social Services. Branch offices in Laguna Niguel and San Clemente have also continued their six-year tradition of collecting coats, sweaters and jackets for the Orange County Social Services during their One Warm Coat drive, and the Laguna Beach office is supporting military families through collections for Homefront America’s Breakfast with Santa at Zoomars Petting Zoo on December 14.
Each year, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offices in the Desert Region come together to make the holidays a little brighter for those in need. For the seventh year in a row, the local company delivered during their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission. Branch offices in Palm Springs, La Quinta, Indian Wells and Palm Desert contributed well over 70 bags of food and more than $1,000 for needy families.
Each year, our San Diego offices serve as a collection point for Toys for Tots. In Temecula, the local branch offices host a movie night for families with the admission being a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. The San Diego Coldwell Banker Community Foundation has selected Angels Depot as their primary charity recipient for 2014 and, through various fundraising events, has already collected more than 2,000 pounds of food to be distributed to seniors living in poverty in San Diego County.
These are just a few of the examples of holiday giving within the Coldwell banker family in California. As a real estate company, we’re working to give people hope and a sense of home during the holidays. Best wishes to you and your family for a happy holiday season.
